After Akahoshi tries to execute Sumaru, Hakuto and the rest of the children stand up to protect their village. After learning the truth, the adults turn on Akahoshi as well. After Akahoshi nearly kills Mizura, he is given no second chances. Not being one to lose, Akahoshi fuses his body with the Star, causing his chakra to go out of control. With everyone else defeated, Naruto is the only one left who can take down this menace. With the help of Natsuhi's spirit, Naruto will prepare to take down Akahoshi with one final attack! But will it be enough?
Naruto and the others chase after Sumaru who is headed for the village to get revenge for his mother's death. Sumaru reaches the training building where the star is kept and sees his mother inside. He goes in and finds her dead. The others reach the outskirts of the training area and find the building surrounded by the Star Village ninja with Akahoshi in the lead. Naruto wants to help Sumaru, but Neji holds him back and tells him that unless the villagers ask for their help, they cannot do anything except observe. Akahoshi orders the archers to fire arrow with paper bombs at the building. Inside, Sumaru forgives his mother for having to leave him alone and vows that he will make Akahoshi pay for what he has done. Natsuhi's spirit calls to Sumaru just in time for him to see the burning arrows. The building explodes. Hokuto can't take it any more and jumps out in front of everyone. She pleads with them to stop the star training and tells them that the training will wind up killing them. Akahoshi tells them not to listen to her and everyone is confused about who to believe. Mizura comes and shows the markings on his chest to prove to them how dangerous the training really is. Akahoshi can't take it anymore and grabs a crossbow and plans to shoot Mizura. Hokuto stands in front of him and is joined by the other children. Akahoshi tells them to execute all the children and admits to killing the Third Hoshikage. The villagers now rally with the children against Akahoshi. Akahoshi then takes the star and fuses it with his body. He becomes extremely powerful and uses his charkra to form a dragon like beast to attack the villagers. He knocks everyone out and then attacks Naruto, Neji, Lee and Tenten. Naruto is able to dodge it and charges at Akahoshi. Akahoshi beats off his attack and knocks Naruto into the rubble of the building. Naruto then hears a familiar song. It's Natsuhi's spirit and she has Sumaru with her. She was able to protect Sumaru from the explosion. Her spirit then helps Naruto defeat Akahoshi and destroy the star.
Back at the Leaf Village, Tsunade chides the group for failing their mission. However, the village has not lodged a complaint and since Akahoshi has been branded a traitor, their mission is effectively canceled. Shizune tells everyone that all the Star Village genin will recover and that they are on their way home. Naruto goes to meet them before they go and he and Sumaru argue over who will become Kage first.
