Naruto is recovering thanks to the mysterious girl, Isaribi. While Naruto is recovering, Anko, Shino, and Ino search for him and also meet the man in charge of the payroll shipment. The group eventually meets back up, but not before finding the sea monster's lair.
While Naruto is recovering, Isaribi is taking care of him. When he finally gets up, he tells her of his mission and eats some breakfast. Isaribi acts coldly towards Naruto and tells him to get out when he is done eating. Naruto chows down on his food and then rushes outside after Isaribi where he sees all he vandalism the local kids have done to her house. As she is walking away, some local kids start throwing rocks at her and call her a monster. After she gets hit by the first rock, Naruto runs to her aid and stops the second one while yelling at the kids. For his trouble, he gets kicked in the shin by one of the kids before they run away.
On another part of the island; Anko, Shino, & Ino are searching for Naruto. After a short time, they meet the man in charge of the payroll shipment and find out the time of the shipment. After the meeting, the three ninja go around the island asking people if they've seen Naruto. One of the people they meet tells them the legend of the Kaima and also where they can find Isaribi's house.
As the three ninja head off towards Isaribi's house, Naruto starts asking people if they've seen his teammates. He gets upset when he finds out he just missed them and has to head off in the direction he just came from. Meanwhile, Anko, Shino, & Ino come to a stretch of beach where they see Isaribi walking "very seriously" and so they decide to follow her. She turns into a small grotto where she proceeds to turn into the Kaima. The three ninja proceed to chase her and end up catching her, although only temporarily.
At this point, Naruto shows up and realizes just who the Kaima is and is about to talk to her when one of Orochimaru's henchmen shows up and takes Isaribi away. While this is going on, Anko is flashing back to her younger days when she was in one of Orochimaru's labs and she sees Isaribi in a tank, in Kaima form. When Anko comes too, she faceplants into the surface of the water and the episode ends.
