Turns out Sazanami is really a wanted criminal named Tokichi who is wanted for the murder of a family of three. Truth is, he's innocent, and wants to capture the man responsible to prove his innocence. Sazanami teams up with the Konoha group to stop Gosunkugi once and for all, while still competing about who will be the one to capture him. With another bounty hunter after Sazanami, it won't be an easy task.
The episode starts out with Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata learning that Sazanami is really an accused man named Tokichi. Tokichi explains that he is innocent. In a flashback he describes what happened. His village was having a festival and he was trying to finish the sword he was making (He was a blacksmith). After finishing the sword, he wrapped it up and headed to the village.
On the way to the village he hears a man scream. He runs to the house where the scream came from and is attacked by a theif named Gosunkugi. Tokichi fights off the attacker and checks on the people in the house. They are all dead, killed by Gosunkugi. As he makes the discovery, some of the villagers find him and assume that he is the one that did it.
Tokichi gets away and starts a new life as a bounty hunter named Sazanami. He vows to bring the real killer to justice and clear his name. He tries to get up to leave, but his injuries are too severe and he kneels down. Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata take off after Gosunkugi.
As our heroes enter the next village, they notice a large golden bell being lifted up to the temple of the village. They now that Gosunkugi will try to steal it. As they head toward it, they are caught in an ambush. Sazanami shows up and helps them fight their way out. They run up to the top, but are once again ambushed. They make quick work of the attackers and take off after Gosunkugi.
After a brief fight Sazanami captures Gosunkugi. All of a sudden Sazanami is now captured by the big bounty hunter, Gatsu. Gatsu takes him back to the village and brates the villagers for not investigating the crime and Sazanami is set free.
Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata head back to the village. Naruto thinks that everything turned out good until Kiba reminds him that they were supposed to bring in Gosunkugi and that Tsunade will be mad. Naruto now isn't sure that he wants to go back.....
