With Raiga seemingly dead, the gang heads back to find Karashi waiting for them. It turns out to be a trap as the Kurosuki Family ambushes them. Luckily, Naruto fools them not once, but twice, with his clones. With the enemies defeated, the villagers focus their anger on Karashi as he was the one who orchestrated the attack. Rock Lee intercepts them and says that Karashi is still young and weak, and that it is partially his fault Karashi joined the Kurosuki Family. Lee begs them to let him return to his mom, and if Karashi tries anything again, Lee will punish him himself. The villagers agree and the group heads back, but not before picking up Ranmaru. They head back to the Curry of Life shop for a meal, where Naruto tries to retrieve information from Ranmaru. One question is still uncertain, is Raiga really dead? And what of Karashi, will he keep his promise?
Naruto, Neji, Lee, and Tenten reach the cliff above the village and see all the villagers waiting for them. Naruto thinks that the Kurosuki family has left and they head down toward the village. As they head down the road to the village, the Kurosuki family springs their trap at Karashi's signal. They roll boulders down the mountain at the Leaf Ninja. It appears they have won an easy victory, but as they inspect their handiwork, Naruto and company reappear. The Kurosuki family then uses a tornado style jutsu to attack only to find out that those were clones as well. The real Naruto, Neji, Lee, and Tenten attack from above and easily defeat the thugs. Naruto is the last one to attack and finds out, in a funny scene, that all the bad guys are defeated.
The villagers want to take vengance on Karashi because of his betrayal, but Rock Lee intervenes and promises that if Karashi does anything else wrong, he will punish Karashi himself. The villagers agree to this.
Naruto, Neji, Lee, and Tenten go back to the shack where they left Ranmaru. They decide that he should be taken back to the curry shop. Grandma Sanshou is happy that they brought back Karashi and makes Karashi eat a special curry for his punishment.
As Lee is running with Karashi, he spots a storm coming in. He and Naruto cut down some trees and Neji tells Tenten to check back on Karashi and Ranmaru at the curry shop. She goes to the shop and finds it empty. Karashi and Ranmaru have left to go to where Raiga is buried in rubble. Once they get there, Ranmaru insists that Raiga still has life in him and gets down to crawl to Raiga's arms. He transfers most of his chakra to Raiga and Raiga starts to move. Karashi is checking on Ranmaru when he sees the movement. He falls with Ranmaru to the bottom of the pile. It is at this moment when Tenten shows up and sees them there. Just then a lightning bolt narrowly misses Tenten and strikes Raiga's outstretched swords. Raiga is alive once again.
