Shikamaru and Tayuya struggle to take control of their match, while Kiba tries to heal himself and Akamaru while avoiding Sakon. Sasuke's process is finally completed and he runs off, leaving Naruto alone with Kimimaro. While Naruto is distracted, Kimimaro tries to finish him off, but Naruto is saved by an unexpected source. Rock Lee has come to help out, and he agrees to keep Kimimaro preoccupied while Naruto goes after Sasuke. Having only just recovered, does Rock Lee stand a chance against Kimimaro?
The episode begins with Kimimaro continuing to lay waste to Naruto's Kage Bunshins (Shadow Clones).
In the forest, Shikamaru has used his shadow to break his own finger. He chooses not to attack Tayuya, as that would go against his policy of hitting defenseless women. Even still, he was only able to undo the genjutsu. Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu(Shadow Neck Bind Technique) is still unable to get a firm hold of Tayuya's neck, so Shikamaru will have to finish her with "that" technique.
Kiba is off elsewhere grinding a rock onto a leaf to create what appears to be a poultice in order to heal both himself and Akamaru. After picking up the scent of three other supposed shinobi, he heads off.
Naruto's clones continue to be slaughtered one after another until the real one remains. The barrel behind Kimimaro begins to emit smoke and soon explodes, revealing....Sasuke, with paler skin and longer, gray hair that reverts back to normal. Naruto completely misinterprets the situation and beckons Sasuke to come back with him, telling him about Sakura and the others, but Sasuke only laughs maniacally and heads off. As Naruto prepares to rush after him, Kimimaro intervenes and prepares to deliver the final blow, when out of nowhere, another shinobi arrives on the scene and delivers a devastating kick to Kimimaro, introducing himself as "The revived student...Konoha's Beautiful Green Beast! Rock Lee! The taijutsu shinobi, despite the condition of his body, tells Naruto to head off and pursue Sasuke. Kimimaro tries to slow Naruto down one more time, but this is clearly Lee's fight.
Back in Konoha, two jounin tell Tsunade that a group of Genin wouldn't be enough to stop Orochimaru and the Sound Four, as Orochimaru gaining the Sharingan would produce horrible results for Konoha. Tsunade tells them that in the aftermath of the attack on Konoha, the Hidden Leaf Village lost the power to support any other nation.
Gai rushes in on the scene and collapses before Tsunade. He's overjoyed when he hears Lee's operation was a success and he can continue training the next day, only to find out that Lee is....already gone.
Lee is holding his own against Kimimaro and declares that his next move will end the battle.
